Lawyer Referral and Information Service

Do you need a lawyer?

Looking for the right lawyer can sometimes be frustrating, time-consuming and intimidating. Many people try to handle difficult situations without legal help because they don't know where to turn. That's why the Atlanta Bar Association established the Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) in 1955. LRIS is a non-profit public service entity of the Atlanta Bar Association. LRIS is proud of its track record in helping the public find the right attorney who reflects legal professionalism, integrity and a commitment to service.

Listen to lawyers talk about various legal issues by clicking on our "Layman's Lawyer Radio" show page.

How the service works:

Step One

Call us at (404) 521-0777 or complete an online referral request.

Step Two

Our referral staff will need a brief description of your legal issue, your name, address and phone number (all information is confidential).

Step Three

We will provide you with the name and phone number of a qualified lawyer who handles your type of problem and who is located, if applicable, in the geographic area convenient to you.

Step Four

Your initial half-hour consultation with the attorney will cost no more than $45. There is no fee for many areas of law.

Step Five

If further legal service is required, the fee arrangements are made between you and the attorney.
