Lawyer Referral and Information Service

Do you need a criminal attorney?

Have you been accused of a traffic violation, drug offense, theft, assault or battery, DUI or rape? Is there a warrant for your arrest?

In criminal law, the state or federal government initiates the prosecution of charges. Crimes are classified as misdemeanors (less serious offenses that are normally punishable by a fine or incarceration for a year or less) such as shoplifting or possession of small amounts of marijuana, while felonies (more serious offenses that warrant imprisonment of one year or more) such as robbery, rape or murder.

The Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) has been serving the general public in the metropolitan Atlanta and surrounding areas since 1955.  The goal of our LRIS is to refer you to the right attorney who reflects legal professionalism, integrity and a commitment to service.

Listen to the The Layman's Lawyer Show on Traffic Law and DUI.

How the service works:

Step One

Call us at (404) 521-0777 or complete an online referral request.

Step Two

Our referral staff will need a brief description of your legal issue, your name, address and phone number (all information is confidential).

Step Three

We will provide you with the name and phone number of a qualified lawyer who handles your type of problem and who is located, if applicable, in the geographic area convenient to you.

Step Four

Your initial half-hour consultation with the attorney will cost no more than $45. There is no fee for many areas of law.

Step Five

If further legal service is required, the fee arrangements are made between you and the attorney.
