ASYLUM AND VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE TRAINING II

2.75 CLE hours

About The Program:

The asylum project pairs volunteer attorneys with applicants for asylum. Opportunities for attorneys include brief writing, legal research, collecting country and human rights reports, representation of clients in an administrative hearing and/or in immigration court. Training includes information on affirmative asylum, defensive asylum, and immigration court practice and procedure.

GAIN’s Victims of Violence Program pairs volunteer attorneys with victims of human trafficking, sexual assault, and domestic violence who need assistance in filing for immigration relief. Training includes information on the legal remedies available, how to prepare and file petitions with USCIS, and how to work with potential clients in a victim-centered and culturally-sensitive manner.
