Join Us for This Special Multi-Bar Event
One of the crowning legislative achievements of the twentieth century and the culmination of the civil rights movement, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 ended segregation in places of public accommodation and banned employment discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, and national origin. In many ways, Atlanta was the epicenter of the civil rights movement. The heroic acts of its citizens, students, educators, and leaders were instrumental in overcoming segregation and bringing about change. Today, Atlanta is a growing, vibrant, and diverse community due in large part to the role it played in those historic times. Because, in the immortal words of Martin Luther King, Jr., "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere," multiple bar associations are coming together to celebrate this historic legislation. Please join us on the evening of November 18th at the new downtown Civil Rights Museum, which chronicles the struggles, personal and societal, that led to this historic legislation. This is an event not to be missed.
