A distinguished faculty of constitutional scholars, civil rights experts, Supreme Court advocates, and a Supreme Court journalist and biographer will analyze and discuss the leading Supreme Court decisions of the October 2014 Term. The faculty represents a variety of views and perspectives on constitutional interpretation and the work of the Supreme Court.

What You Will Learn

This Term the Supreme Court agreed to decide whether there is a federal constitutional right to same sex marriage, several important cases involving freedom of speech, and the meaning of an important provision in the Affordable Care Act governing the right to  subsidies when health insurance is purchased on a federal exchange. The Court agreed to decide an important separation of powers controversy pitting the powers of the President against Congressional power. In the criminal area, the Court is expected to render important Fourth Amendment, Confrontation Clause, and death penalty decisions. And, the Court will grapple with civil rights claims against law enforcement officers, and claims of housing and employment discrimination.
