On Wednesday, March 9th, Chief Justice Hugh P. Thompson of the Supreme Court of Georgia and Chief Judge Thomas W. Thrash, Jr. of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia will host a discussion about how volunteers can provide legal assistance to indigent defendants and prisoners facing a death sentence. Lawyers from civil law firms who have represented death row prisoners, experienced capital defense lawyers, and representatives from the American Bar Association Death Penalty Representation Project will discuss the urgent need for pro bono counsel and provide information about the resources and support available to those who accept a case. Prior criminal or death penalty experience is not required and your attendance will not constitute an agreement to accept a case.
